Beckett Architecture - Play & Public Spaces

Working closely with Local Authorities to improve the public realm, we help realise improvements and enhancements in local parks, pocket parks, public art trails amongst others. The award winning canal heritage trail built on the practice’s long involvement with canals and waterways, to engage local people with the thread that runs through our cities and countryside.  Re-invigorating the traditional use of public space means drawing on the resources of The Lottery and others to both restore and renew the places that people value most in the heritage of their towns.

The Playbuilder programme has encouraged councils to create bespoke play spaces that make use of natural elements and provide a wide range of play experiences that meet community needs.  We have developed and created play areas that respond to their local setting and introduce more natural, less prescribed play opportunities to extend children’s imagination and actively engage with their surroundings.  Drawing on our experience of continental practice we try to offer children a rich play environment where the experience of play stretches their physical development as well stimulating their social skills.
