Placemaking

Urban design is the process of making places. By looking carefully at the context, the patterns of past development, developing a brief, testing the robustness of the new proposals and engaging users in the testing of ideas and solutions, we seek to map out an urban design framework and develop siteplanning strategies for making it happen.

Naturally the skills of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Design provide visual models of what can be, in which the context of proposals can be studied and assessed quantitatively and qualitatively, alongside what is significant from the past.

Whether we are advocating new uses or restoring and reviving historic parts, we are engaging others in our plans and schemes. The creation of convivial public space relies on honest building form, sunlight, sparkle and shelter and a green environment that celebrates the seasons.
